Abstract

The article traces the development of traditions of humanism and universal values from the times of Kiyivska Rus to the present day. Particular attention is paid to the formation of the humanistic worldview of Ukrainians during the Cossack era and under the leadership of the tsarist government. Lesya Ukrainka’s humanistic views, her views on the ideal of human coexistence and a kind of existential humanism, which was of great importance for the formation of the Ukrainian intelligentsia in the XX century, contain philosophical and cultural potential for the formation of humanistic consciousness of modern man
