Determining the values of water quality indices of surface water bodies for studying their environmental status

Abstract

Water is one of the important components of the environment. Recently, there has been an aggravation of problems in the field of environmental safety of surface water bodies, which is caused by the unsatisfactory state of water resources. The quality of surface and underground water bodies deteriorates over the years due to natural and man-made factors. Natural factors of pollution include hydrological, atmospheric, climatic, topographic and lithological factors, and man-made factors include mineral extraction, animal husbandry, production and disposal of waste (industrial, communal and agricultural), increased rainfall or soil erosion due to land use change.
