PHARMACEUTICALS CONTAMINATION INTO THE ENVIRONMENT: FATE, OCCURRENCE AND INFLUENCE

Abstract

Aim of the study: to perform the analysis of recent contamination data by pharmaceuticals in surface and sewage waters, wastewater treatment plants in Europe and Ukraine and study their influence on environment and sources of spreading. Results: The information about the sources of contaminated effluents formation, especially their negative impact on the elements of the environment, purification at municipal wastewater treatment plants were systematized. The main impact of 3 pharmaceuticals presented in Watched List Decision 2015/495/EU was considered. Measures of environmental pollution reduction and advanced techniques of pharmaceuticals removal were presented and discussed.
