Abstract:	У статті розглянуто сутність наукових категорій громадська безпека, цивільна оборона та цивільний захист в контексті національної безпекової політики. Зроблено висновок, що трансформації, які відбуваються в сучасному українському суспільстві щодо формування та реалізації державної політики цивільного захисту населення, з урахуванням досвіду різних країн світу, засвідчують свою цінність під час удосконалення системи цивільного захисту населення з урахуванням сучасних викликів та загроз в сфері національної безпеки.
Description:	The essence of the scientific categories such as public safety, civil defence and civil protection in the context of national safety politics has been considered in the paper. The conclusion has been made that transformations that are going on in modern Ukrainian society concerning the formation and realization of public policy of civil defence of population, taking into account the experience of different countries of the world, certify their value in the process of improving the system of civil defence of population with regard to modern challenges and threats in the sphere of national security.
