Abstract:	Із використанням інституційного підходу визначено місце мовної політики у забезпеченні сталого розвитку. Обґрунтовано особливості функціонування інституційного середовища з позиції конкретизації його ролі в україномовному середовищі. Систематизовано дані щодо стану індексу глобальної конкурентоспроможності мов за 2021-2022 рр. Виявлено, що українська мова не входить до топ 20 країн найбільш популярних мов у світі у звітному періоді. Крім того, протягом останніх років спостерігається тенденція щодо збільшення кількості осіб, які говорять східними мовами (арабська, хінді тощо). Аналіз чинної Стратегії популяризації української мови (2019 р.) дозволив визначити її переваги та недоліки, усунути які рекомендовано в межах уточнених векторів мовної політики України (зовнішнього та внутрішнього)
Description:	With the use of an institutional approach, the place of language policy in ensuring sustainable development is defined. The peculiarities of the functioning of the institutional environment are substantiated from the point of view of specifying its role in the Ukrainian-speaking environment. Data on the state of the index of global competitiveness of languages for 2021-2022 were systematized. It was found that the Ukrainian language is not among the top 20 most popular languages in the world in the reporting period. In addition, in recent years there has been a trend towards an increase in the number of people speaking Eastern languages (Arabic, Hindi, etc.). The analysis of the current Strategy for the Popularization of the Ukrainian Language (2019) made it pos sible to determine its advantages and disadvantages, which are recommended to be eliminated within the specified vectors of the language policy of Ukraine (external and internal)
