Abstract: With the increasing number of multinational peacekeeping, counterterrorism, search and rescue operations, it is important for faculty members to understand the essence and structure of an officer's readiness for professional foreign language exchange. In this study, we examined the perceptions of Ukrainian cadets (future officers) about the importance of the studied phenomena and personality traits necessary for effective professional foreign language exchange. An analysis of the theoretical and practical foundations of an officer's readiness for professional foreign language exchange was carried out. Motivational-emotional, cognitive-conceptual and functional criteria, their indicators and characteristics of the levels of their training (initial, intermediate and sufficient) are specified. The total number of participants involved through questionnaires and interviews is 524 people. The obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis, followed by qualitative interpretation and meaningful generalization. Recommendations for faculty members are given. This study has implications both for future educational decisions and for potential areas of research.
